A mix of racing and fun!
For the first-time 24 hour rider, the thought of being on a competitive course day and night may seem daunting and a bit crazy! Yet there is a reason why racers return year after year – the spirit of 24 is rooted in fun and friendly competition, even the fastest riders tend to relax and just enjoy the entire weekend!
Our best advice for enjoying a 24 Hour Event? Don’t stress about the actual riding, courses are designed to accommodate a wide range of skill levels – with a mix of wide double track to allow ample passing room and fun flowy singletrack to ensure everyone finishes a lap with a smile on their face! And don’t forget this is a weekend to enjoy – so make sure the cooler is packed with your favorite beverages and there is plenty of snacks to replenish tired legs after each lap!

The 10th Annual 25 Hours of Frog Hollow
Although there are stories of racing through snow and freezing temps or even torrential rain, typically the weather has lows in the 40s and highs around 70. Absolutely perfect riding weather for an extended race. The course itself is simply fantastic – with an almost 50/50 mix of single and doubletrack to keep racers spread out but pedal legs constantly in motion. The highlight is the classic JEM section – a destination trail in itself with flowy singletrack pitched on a fun downhill grade with tight switchbacks and a mix of loose sand and jagged rock. Riders need to keep speed in check with hairpin corners and the odd jagged rock where wrong line choice can result in a flat. And if you’re lucky enough to navigate the JEM without incident, its a short fire road pedal to the finish line. At night be ready as Light & Motion ambassadors typically have their signature ‘Fire Pit Jump’ set up 100 yards before the finish line to help keep the night adrenaline pumping!
Lights are required right before sundown until sunrise so riders should be equipped with a reliable set of lights. Frog Hollow is the perfect night riding experience as the course becomes significantly less crowded eliminating traffic jams in the technical sections and bright lights help riders ‘zone in’ and become more fluid with the terrain. Our favorite part of the race? The sunset and sunrise laps are surreal at Frog Hollow where the golden light bounces off clouds and red rock cliffs transforming the course into an otherworldly landscape. It’s in these moments where, in the middle of a race, heart racing, where the mind completely checks out from everything except the simplicity of pedaling a bike on epic terrain surrounded by incomparable natural beauty.
This year marks the 10th Anniversary of this marquee 24 hour race! We highly recommend attending the 25 Hours of Frog Hollow – no matter if you want to organize a large 10 person team or come as a diehard solo rider – it’s an event to add to the mountain biking bucket list. The spirit and camaraderie that envelops Frog Town is unmatched, you’ll meet new riding friends from all parts of the world and genuinely have a great time in the most picturesque setting imaginable. We can’t wait to see you out there this November!
The Southwest corner of Utah implores your senses to be acutely aware of the splendor of it all. From the geological formations from 150 million years ago, to the first human native inhabitants from 8000 years ago, this land is sacred. Pulling into the venue at the 25 Hours Of Frog Hollow in the shadow of Zion National Park, the venue is nestled at the toe of the Navajo sandstone uplift and lends itself well to a 24…er, 25 hour race. The course is a good mix of double and single track and the scenery is stunning. The crew at GRO put on one hell of an event and everything is well planned. At the 25 Hours of Frog Hollow you will ride in the dark for just over half the race making it one that really stands out on the calendar. At the tail of the riding season, when your legs are strong, there is no reason not to come to the desert and put your tires in the sand and let your mind wander in the vast desert expanse.
